Properties of Organic Silicon, contraindications, and brands

Organic silicon is a mineral essential for human life and health. It provides properties of strength and resistance to the tissues of living beings, especially to connective tissue. It is abundant in the Earth’s crust in the form of silicates and can filter into rivers and lakes, staying in the water. But only the “organic form” is the one we can assimilate to create tendons, cartilage, nails, bones, and muscles.

Not all silicon is organic. There are some inorganic chemical forms, such as silicon dioxide. In its natural state, this is absorbed by plants through their roots and transformed into phytoliths. This form allows humans to assimilate it, and it is called “organic silicon.”

Properties of Organic Silicon

You can find it in almost every part of the body, from nails to hair, passing through teeth and connective tissues. You can also take it through the foods you eat daily or take a supplement containing it. It also has other uses, such as performing beauty treatments to rejuvenate the face with organic silicon. It has properties to improve symptoms of sagging and fight wrinkles. It also thickens nails and strengthens hair. So it is a substance that can be used in different medicinal therapies.

The properties of silicon for human health are:

  • Provide vitality to hair.
  • Strengthen nails and teeth.
  • Improve bone tissue formation.
  • Promote the recovery of tendons and muscles.
  • Serve as treatment for psoriasis.
  • Keep joints flexible.
  • Prevent joint cartilage deterioration.
  • Preserve youthful tissues.
  • Improve calcium absorption.
  • Promote skin elasticity and reduce sagging, wrinkles, etc.
  • Improve bone fracture repair.

Organic siliconIn general, the properties of organic silicon help delay the effects of aging in a wide range of body tissues. To achieve this, you can use both supplements you need to ingest and its form as gel, spray that works locally. You can apply them directly to the area where you have a skin condition, such as psoriasis, burns, or any symptom you want to correct. The use of anti-aging cosmetics and anti-wrinkle creams also works.

When It Was Discovered

It should be mentioned that although silicon is very abundant in the earth, it cannot be assimilated in its inorganic form. It needs to be transformed to be ingested. In 1957, it was synthesized by the chemist Norbert Duffaut and later, the discovery was improved by Lïc Le Ribault, who was the scientist that demonstrated the benefits of organic silicon G5 in the human body. This scientific revelation, like many other discoveries in human history, was a surprise. Ribault, who suffered from symptoms of psoriasis on his hands, noticed that after working with this substance, the skin on his fingers had recovered from the disease’s symptoms. So from that moment, it was proven to have benefits for skin and psoriasis.

Benefits for Joints

This part of human anatomy contains chondroitin sulfate, which, in turn, is made up of silicon. So, it is important to have it along with calcium. Bone tissue is a mixture of all of them, plus collagen. The properties of chondroitin are good for joint health.

One benefit that is generally mentioned little is its ability to reduce inflammation and joint pain in osteoporosis. Since it is the base of chondroitin, it strengthens cartilage regeneration and reduces the strain that soft tissues experience when forced. As part of connective tissue, including cartilage, it improves the strength and resistance of tendons and muscles. It is very common to buy organic silicon + chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine.

Organic Silicon Deficiency

Having a deficiency of silicon in the body leads to decreased bone density and an increase in atherosclerotic plaques.

As with other substances necessary for human life, organic silicon decreases with age. This is a problem because, after the age of 40, there is a significant decline.

One of the first symptoms you may notice when you have low levels is joint discomfort. The lack of an adequate amount in the foods we eat daily is the cause of this. That is why it is important to eat quality products that have had healthy living conditions.

Silicon deficiencyThere are studies that show organic silicon is essential for absorbing calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and synthesizing vitamin D. So you can imagine how important it is. Without this molecule, the body suffers from almost total mineral deficiency because you cannot metabolize them. Thus, deficiency causes a wide range of serious diseases.

Another symptom you may notice is itching and the formation of small eczema patches. This can worsen if the silicon deficiency continues. Since collagen cannot be formed, the skin becomes diseased and stops repairing the tissues that make it up. You may also notice weakness in nails and hair.

Unfortunately, we cannot process mineral silicon as is. It must be in its organic form for the body to assimilate it, and for this, plants and microorganisms are necessary. Both are responsible for transforming the mineral from the earth into its form that can be assimilated by the human body.

Which Foods Contain Organic Silicon

The good news is that there are many foods rich in silicon. You should focus on vegetables and cereals, such as beetroot, rice, oats, or wheat. Salads are also important, where you can add lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, onion, and avocado, dressing with lemon or another citrus fruit, as the pectin in them contains organic silicon.

The more raw these foods are, the better, as high temperatures cause them to lose most of the silicon, leaving only a small amount. Around 2%. So good salads are the best way to increase your levels through food.

Supplements with Organic Silicon

Fortunately, there are also food supplements containing assimilable silicon. Some of them are extracts from bamboo and horsetail or equisetum arvensis. These are great because they allow you to control the exact amounts you take. If you have a deficiency, specialists usually recommend taking organic silicon capsules or tablets to return to normal and boost health once again.

Cosmetics

Organic silicon in ampoulesAs you already know and we told you at the beginning, it is the base of many structures in the human body and allows for the formation of more complex molecules. Adding silicon to skin creams improves absorption and enhances the active ingredients they contain. Many brands add it because dermatologically, it is beneficial. It helps improve skin hydration and the formation of natural collagen. It is part of hyaluronic acid and the collagen that the human body constantly produces.

Furthermore, since it has properties that make dermal tissues absorb the other ingredients in creams, it allows you to get the most out of every drop of cosmetic for the skin.

If you look at the label, you can find it under the names of silicon crystal, Metisilanol manuronate, or organic silicon nanoparticles.

Contraindications

It is a product or substance without dangers in its organic form.

People taking supplements for acidity should monitor long-term consumption, as kidney stones may form. If this is your case, it is best to talk to a specialist to see if it is advisable to take both elements daily.

Other than that, some studies with mice have found some anomalies in long-term heart function, but when administered over a normal period, no issues were detected.

In its inorganic form, it is toxic to humans and dangerous if inhaled. But this happens with many minerals and silicates. Once transformed for ingestion, it poses no dangers. Still, always take it in moderation and follow the manufacturer’s or nutrition specialist’s recommendations.

Brands

  • Silimax
  • Sotya
  • Flexium
  • Mesoestetic
  • Silicium G5

Daily Dose

With this substance, it is the same as with others. There is no exact amount stipulated, but the recommendation is that an adult’s diet should include between 1 and 1.5 grams of silicon each day. You need to consider the amount you already get from food, although it is quite small. This is why supplementation is necessary at certain times to improve levels in the body.

Recommendations

A good idea is to add this nutritional supplement after suffering a bone fracture to help with healing. You can also alternate cosmetics with collagen and hyaluronic acid and occasionally add one with silicon G5. It is good to change substances to complement potential skin deficiencies. It works well for dry skin and eczema.

Also, when ingested, it works well alternated with vitamins to improve healing, tissue recovery, and to keep you young for a longer time.

I have a lot of sagging in my body, what can I take?

    • Marta Lerinde says:

Hello Esther, for sagging, you can use a cosmetic product with collagen, hyaluronic acid, etc., to prevent it from getting worse. However, if it’s significant, this is usually not enough, and you should seek specific treatments. Depending on the level of skin sagging, combining it with some exercise can improve the symptoms of loose skin. Organic silicon can complement other active ingredients, but I wouldn’t use it as the sole component. Since I don’t know the level of sagging in your body, it might be best for you to get advice at a center so you can decide based on what they tell you.

Hello, I had ACL and meniscus surgery two months ago. I’ve heard about organic silicon; would it be recommended for my case? Thank you.

    • Marta Lerinde says:

Hello José, it can help with recovery as it promotes the growth of ligaments. It usually improves symptoms like inflammation and discomfort from muscle injuries. So, organic silicon can work well for the anterior cruciate ligament. Its effects improve the repair of connective tissue, muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

      • Ani says:

Jose, you can take “unflavored natural gelatin”; it’s an excellent cartilage regenerator. I recommend it from personal experience, it works fantastically for me, in fact, I didn’t even need surgery on my cartilage. You can get gelatin at natural product stores. I consume 2 tablespoons with a little water, mix it, and take it on an empty stomach. I wait 15 minutes and then have my breakfast. The treatment is daily and has no contraindications. I hope it’s useful for you

Hello, I want to know if the silica fibers in canary seed are toxic to humans. Thank you.

    • Marta Lerinde says:

Canary seed for humans must be free of silica fibers. This is a component it contains, and to remove it, processing is needed.

  4. Norma Carmen. says:

Wonderful information, congratulations, I will keep it in mind when buying products. Thank you, Norma.

Hello, I have rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. I wanted to know if silicon oligoelement combined with magnesium is good or toxic? I also take lysates, thanks.

    • Marta Lerinde says:

Hello Patricia, you can take it without problems, magnesium will help better assimilation. In fact, there are some supplements that contain both silicon and magnesium.

    • Ani says:

You can take “kombucha,” which is special for “rheumatoid arthritis.” You can find more information on “Google” and see how useful and extraordinary it is.

  6. Carmen says:

Good afternoon, can organic silicon be taken if you are taking collagen with magnesium tablets? Thank you.

    • Marta Lerinde says:

No problem, it complements and strengthens your diet with collagen, magnesium, and silicon.

  7. Regina Lara says:

Hello Martha, I am 43 years old and I’m suffering from eczema and itching on my face. Can silicon help me counteract this issue?

    • Marta Lerinde says:

Hello Regina, in principle, a lack of silicon can cause eczema and other skin symptoms, and it could work quite well, although it’s always good to talk to a dermatologist. They can tell you if it’s the cause and then treat it with organic silicon. So, even though it might work well, if it’s not the source causing the itching and eczema, it could worsen over time.

  8. carmen says:

Hello, I’m Carmen, and I’m taking collagen with magnesium and evening primrose oil pearls. Can I take organic silicon? Thank you.

    • Marta Lerinde says:

In principle, yes, but depending on the reasons you want to add it. Collagen can be alternated with silicon, but it depends on the purpose.

  9. Rosa says:

Hello Marta! I would like to know if a person who has had angina and three bypass surgeries, and has arteriosclerosis, can take organic silicon? Thank you!

    • Marta Lerinde says:

Hello Rosa, in principle, there wouldn’t be any issue, and silicon for arteriosclerosis could work well to raise levels that may be somewhat low. However, I would recommend discussing it with your doctor due to your medical history. This will also ensure that it doesn’t interact with any medication you may be taking. But most likely, you can take it without problems.

  10. irina says:

The collagen supplement with magnesium and silicon can be taken to help with osteoporosis. I would like to know if there is any specific brand of this product for taking it, or if it can be bought at any pharmacy or supermarket. Thank you.

    • Marta Lerinde says:

It can help slow down bone loss, whether it contains organic silicon, G5, magnesium, and collagen, as long as it complements the treatment. Some people find it very helpful, while others perceive fewer results, but it’s important to see how it works for you because osteoporosis progresses differently in each person.

As for the brand, choose one that works for you or that you like. You can find different formats like liquid or tablets. Just make sure it’s from a well-known brand so you can ensure some quality in what you’re taking.

  11. Jorge says:

Hello, I just saw an orthopedic doctor, who diagnosed me with level 1 knee cartilage wear. If I try to do a squat, I lose strength, my knees hurt, and I feel pain in the back! He says the best option would be to inject steroids to reduce the pain, but I don’t like the idea. Can I take this supplement to repair my discomfort and create cartilage before it progresses? How should I take it and complete it? I should mention that I have a slightly high bad cholesterol level and an elevated A-G antigen, which causes arteriosclerosis! Please help me!

    • Marta Lerinde says:

Hello Jorge, if you have knee cartilage wear, it’s very difficult to regenerate it. Supplements can help you prevent further wear and tear, and some can even relieve certain discomforts, but the degenerative injury will still be there.

One way to avoid further joint wear is to do exercises that strengthen the muscles around the knee, but these should be recommended by a specialist to avoid overloading the cartilage. Silicon and collagen can help, but if you have a lot of discomfort, it’s possible you won’t perceive the results you expect. In any case, you can always consider injections.

Discuss it with the orthopedic doctor so they can also evaluate your progress with the different supplements.

  12. Paqui says:

Hello, good afternoon. I finished chemotherapy treatment in December. Now I have a lot of bone pain, plantar fasciitis, and my thumb has a lot of pain. The finger feels like a spring. Can I take organic silicon?

    • Marta Lerinde says:

Hello Paqui, based on the information you provided, the properties of silicon could help you. Collagen can also help with bone pain, but it’s not necessary to take both supplements at once.

  13. Esther says:

The topic of silicon is great, but I think the real cause of cellulite is still unknown. I’ve had it since I was a child, and I was very athletic back then, now less so, and it never went away. My diet has mostly been based on vegetables and fruits. No matter what I did, it never disappeared. Today I will try organic silicon alternating with plasma to see how much it decreases. Could you help me with advice or suggestions?

    • Marta Lerinde says:

You’re right, Esther, it’s hard to eliminate it completely. Some people are more predisposed to cellulite, and we have to live with it every day. Treatments like organic silicon can help, but the results vary. It really depends on the person, but if nothing is done, instead of having less cellulite, there will be more.

The best recommendation is what you were doing—exercise, eating well, and using a cream to keep the skin hydrated and youthful. If the budget allows, you could consider treatments at an aesthetic clinic, like the plasma you mentioned, or depending on the level of fatty nodules, try other treatments.

  14. Lidia torres says:

Hello Marta, I have been taking liquid silicon for 5 years (I’m 45). I’ve recently stopped because I read that it may cause kidney problems. I don’t have any kidney issues. I would also like to know if I can take it together with milk thistle capsules for a period. Best regards.

    • Marta Lerinde says:

Hello Lidia, in principle, the side effects or contraindications of organic silicon are for people with acidity or a predisposition to kidney stones.

However, I believe it’s better to take supplements for a period, whether it’s G5 silicon, milk thistle, or other dietary supplements. Unless you have specific health conditions, it’s always good to take breaks or switch to another supplement that can provide nutrients for balance.

You can take milk thistle and silicon in capsules without problems.

  15. Ana says:

Hello! My mother-in-law was diagnosed with cartilage wear 6 years ago. The situation has worsened over time. Nowadays, she can’t climb stairs, walk even short distances, and only stands up and sits down. She has lost weight, taken many medications and remedies, but her pain keeps worsening. She tried shark cartilage, coral calcium, Chinese garlic, glucosamine, and many other things, but her pain increases every day… Is silicon an option for her? We are desperate.

    • Marta Lerinde says:

Hello Ana, joint wear is indeed difficult to treat. Shark cartilage sometimes helps because it reduces inflammation and provides other substances, but if it hasn’t worked for her…

Some people find relief with marine collagen, but not in very advanced stages. Based on what you describe, it’s likely a high degree of cartilage wear, and that might not be enough. You could try looking into devil’s claw (harpagophytum) to see if it could help, though you should check its contraindications and the medication she’s taking. Another option is chondroitin sulfate. We have more information on both substances in the blog. I hope this helps.

  16. Maria says:

  17. Nuri prim says:

Hello Marta, I’m taking collagen + organic silicon with magnesium, calcium, and vitamins. I take 4 a day, two in the morning and two at noon. I’ve noticed that since I started taking it, I can’t sleep. Could it be the supplement? I had previously taken collagen powder, and this didn’t happen. Thank you.

    • Marta Lerinde says:

Hello Nuri, it’s possible that the vitamins are giving you an extra boost of energy. Some people experience this. The other ingredients shouldn’t cause insomnia. Try doing some exercise in the afternoon, if you don’t already, or go for a walk to see if you burn off that excess energy during the first few days.

  18. Puri says:

Hello, I have lupus and am a kidney transplant recipient. I have a lot of pain in my legs. Could I take silicon? Thank you.

  42. ruth says:

Ruth: Hello, I was told that there’s a doctor who injects silicon into the glutes. A friend had it done, and she is recommending it. I would like to know if it is not contraindicated and if it can cause harm over time. She told me they injected half a liter of organic silicon into each buttock, and now she wants to do it again. Although it looks very good on her and she recommends it, personally, I’m worried about the effects it may have on the body. I would like to know if silicon can be injected into the glutes and legs, and if there is any harm in the short or long term. The silicon she used is called organic silicon, and on the bottle, it says bioactivated and Vita Sil below that.

  43. Zundy says:

    Hello!
I have antiphospholipid syndrome and my skin is extremely dry. Would silicon help me, and which one would you recommend I buy? Please, thanks.

    • Marta Lerinde says:

Hello Zundy, for dry skin, moisturizers work well, and among them, those containing hyaluronic acid. Silicon will help your body produce collagen in the skin, but with antiphospholipid syndrome, I can’t give you a recommendation. It’s best that the doctor who diagnosed you with the syndrome advises you, just in case there are any contraindications for your case.
